Use your blog to open your door

A blog can be a powerful tool to raise awareness of community needs and show the difference your nonprofit makes.

Yet instead of getting readers involved and inspiring support, nonprofits’ blogs often serve as little more than outlets for institutional news and self-promotion.

Visitors to your website and subscribers to your blog are looking for information, insight and ideas for improving your community.

Those visitors also want to understand your nonprofit and its impact.

So use your blog to inform and engage them.

Explain, clearly and simply, the need you address. Write about about what you do, how you work, who you serve, and the difference you make in their lives.

And make clear how and why investing in your organization will help make your community a better place to live and work, while also advancing the investors’ values and goals.

Use your blog to make readers want to support and work with you.
