What’s your plan for telling your story?

Your nonprofit has a great story to tell, but are you prepared to tell it?

Your story — about the community need you address, and the difference you make in the lives of people — is the lifeblood of your organization.

Fundamental to your effectiveness in delivering services, raising money and operating your organization is your ability to tell that story in a clear, compelling way.

But do you have a strategy for telling it?

Have you defined the audiences you want to reach, the communications materials you need to meet your goals for engaging those audiences, and the vehicles and platforms you need to deliver those materials?

Have you spelled out the roles, responsibilities and process, as well as a calendar and deadlines, needed to produce and deliver those materials?

And is your organization investing in the skills, tools and training that your staff and board need to tell your story effectively?

Smart communication is indispensable to nonprofit work. If you treat your communications as anything but a top priority, you will get what you pay for.
